It's time for your summer reading list round-up! I've been reading a ton of new books lately and wanted to share my favorite healing books with you.

Dying to Be Me, by Anita Moorjani

In this book, Anita Moorjani recalls her near-death experience, which she believes was her spiritual awakening. This NYT bestseller was so moving, that it was turned into a documentary film.

Along with her own story, Anita shares others' experiences with death and lays out the lessons they learned in those moments.

We had her on the show and it is truly one of the most moving and incredible episodes I’ve done. Listen here!

Radical Remission by Kelly A. Turner

When it comes to cancer we all need a little hope right? Researcher, lecturer and counselor in integrative oncology Dr. Kelly Turner writes about patients who have healed from cancer and shares how they did the impossible. While getting her Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkley, Dr. Turner was shocked to discover that no one was studying episodes of radical (or unexpected) remission—when people recover against all odds without the help of conventional medicine, or after conventional medicine has failed.

She was so fascinated by this kind of remission that she embarked on a 10 month trip around the world, traveling to 10 different countries to interview 50 holistic healers and 20 radical remission cancer survivors about their healing practices and techniques. Her research continued by interviewing over 100 Radical Remission survivors and studying over 1000 of these cases. Her evidence presents 9 common themes that she believes may help even terminal patients turn their lives around.

If you or someone you love has cancer, perhaps this is worth a read.

You Are The Placebo by Dr Joe Dispenza

Dr Joe Dispenza is an international lecturer, speaker, researcher, corporate consultant, New York Times best-selling author, and educator.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and is a Doctor of Chiropractic. He is a researcher of epigenetics, quantum physics, neuroscience, mind-body medicine, and brain/heart coherence.

I have been on a journey with Dr Joe this last year that has truly changed my life. When my mom was sick I reread You Are The Placebo and it really changed how I thought and looked at everything going on. It helped me and her through our journey. I would absolutely give it a read, it will change the way you look at the world.

Life Force by Tony Robbins

In Life Force, Tony Robbins introduces a concept known as the “inner game.” This is the part of us that wants to keep going when times get tough. It allows us to be resilient and bounce back from setbacks, rather than letting them define who we are or how we see ourselves in the world.

The Inner Game is about learning how to identify what you want out of your life, and then making it happen by focusing on what you can control—your thoughts and actions—instead of getting hung up on factors out of your control (like other people). It's about being able to recognize when something isn't right for you so that you make the appropriate changes to improve your situation.

In short: it's all about having confidence in yourself as an individual, while staying true to your goals and values.

I hope you enjoy this list of books, and I hope it helps you on your healing journey. If you read any of these books, don’t forget to tag me on Instagram @mariamenounos and @bettertogetherwithmaria and let me know your thoughts!
