Exercise & Movement

You don't need to be serious about exercise, but it's important to stay active. Regular movement improves your mood, sleep quality, and energy levels. It also helps you maintain a healthy body weight, which can provide additional confidence in your appearance.

There are many different ways to incorporate exercise into your life:

Walking is one of the most accessible activities that offers many benefits, especially when done outdoors. A 20-minute walk will burn about 100 calories—the same as running for 1 minute at full speed! Try walking with friends or family members for extra motivation and support.

Build a Routine

One of the best ways to find self-worth outside of your career is by creating a routine that helps you know yourself better. A routine can help you find purpose and happiness, as well as find balance in your life. If you're feeling lost, it's time to create a new routine for yourself!

A good way to start is by looking at what kind of person you want to be in the future. What do you want from life? What values do you want to live by? These are all questions that will help determine what kind of things need to be added into your daily life so that they become part of who you are today, tomorrow and beyond.

Grounding

Grounding involves finding a quiet space to sit or lie down in, then positioning yourself comfortably. As you settle into your position, take a deep breath and focus on the very moment in which you’re experiencing now. Look around at your surroundings and notice what it is that has your attention—the floor beneath your feet? The ceiling above? A painting on the wall? The sounds in the room around you? Breathe deeply as you try to really see and hear everything that is happening around you at this exact moment. Letting go of thoughts about past experiences or future expectations can take some time; just keep trying! After only five minutes of focusing on present sensations in this way, most people find themselves feeling more grounded than before starting their practice session (which means less stress).

Give Back

Giving back is an extremely effective way to find self-worth outside of your career. It can be as simple as volunteering at a local non-profit, or it can be something more involved like starting your own charity.

You don't have to give financially, either—giving your time and skills is just as important! For example: if you're good at giving advice on personal finance, then you could volunteer at a local community center and help people sort through their financial problems. Or maybe you're an accountant who enjoys teaching numbers; make some extra money by offering classes on accounting basics!

As with any form of service work, there are plenty of ways that giving back can benefit the giver in addition to helping out those who need it most:

We hope Ali’s method to finding self-worth outside of your career has given you new ways to approach your life and find balance. It can be difficult sometimes, especially if you're in a job that constantly puts your self-worth at risk. But if we don't take care of ourselves first, there's no way we can take care of the people around us or do our best at work. Self-worth comes from within, so it's important to make time for things that help us recharge and feel good about who we are as individuals before focusing too much attention on what others think about us.
