Cultivate Self-Acceptance with Dr. Shefali
Did you know that being average is actually a good thing? The Heal Squad team sat down with Dr. Shefali, a clinical psychologist and best-selling author and discussed how to cultivate self-acceptance and the potential harms of toxic positivity. Dr. Shefali argues that embracing one's imperfections and accepting the ups and downs of life can lead to greater happiness and fulfillment.
The concept of "average" is often seen as negative or undesirable, but Dr. Shefali challenges this idea. She suggests that striving for perfection or exceptionalism can actually be detrimental to our well-being, as it creates unrealistic expectations and fosters a constant sense of dissatisfaction. Instead, accepting ourselves as average allows us to focus on our own growth and progress, rather than constantly comparing ourselves to others.
Dr. Shefali shares her practical advice to help you cultivate self-acceptance:
