3 Tips to Work Towards Self Acceptance with Zachary Levi

Zachary Levi is an actor and author who is well known for his role in the animated film Tangled. He recently just released his new book “Radical Love: Learning to Accept Yourself and Others”, and explains how he has experienced and come through his mental health journey. Zachary recently joined us on Better Together and opened up about his family, his experience in therapy and how everything he’s been through leading up to now has shaped him. He share with us his 3 tips he would tell some one who is working towards self acceptance.

Zachary Levi’s Three Tips To Work Towards Self Acceptance

1. The journey to healing all starts with learning to love yourself

Zachary talks about his time in therapy, and how it was a life changing and transformative time for him. He talks about his relationship with one woman in particular, who held a very comforting, motherly role to him. When learning things about your life and learning how to turn your mindset around, it is so important to start with loving yourself. You won’t be able to apply what you’re learning, or even feel like you are worthy of learning those things if you don’t see yourself as worthy. You must see your value and your worth, and see that you are so deserving of healing!

2. Vulnerability is a superpower

The more we’re able to show our vulnerability, the more we are able to encourage others to do the same. Zachary talks about how when you show others around you that it’s ok to be open and honest about the things in your life, you’re opening up that space for everyone to be equally as vulnerable and create genuine and honest relationships. Remember, we’re all on a journey of healing!

3. Taking the steps to help yourself will lead you to new opportunities

Taking the time and the energy to do things to help yourself will pay off in ways you’ll see later. Zachary talks about how he booked his role in “Shazam!” once he was in therapy. He goes on to say that he knows if he hadn’t gone into therapy and done the real work on himself, he would not have booked that role.
