This is the BEST dairy-free buttercream frosting recipe✨
• 1 cup unsalted dairy-free butter
• 4 cups powdered sugar
• 1 tablespoon dairy-free milk
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1/8 teaspoon salt

I 2x it in the video so I could frost the 3 layer cake. I wound up making an extra batch to finish the piping 💖

A few frosting tips for success:
• Use softened butter! I find that dairy free butter softens pretty quickly. Just place the stick of the dairy free butter on the counter for about 30 min. You know it’s softened when you can easily press on it, like I show in the video.

• If your powdered sugar doesn’t contain cornstarch, you need to sift it so the buttercream is smooth! I sometimes buy powdered sugar that has tapioca starch instead of corn starch because my a few people in my family are allergic to corn and it gets so clumpy.

• Skip adding the salt if your dairy-free butter is salted. You want a little bit of salt in the frosting to balance the sweetness, but too much salt will taste funky.

• Use gel food coloring so you don’t thin the frosting. If anyone knows of a natural gel food coloring, let me know! 🫶🏻 What’s your favorite frosting flavor?

Directions:

  • Place your softened butter in a mixing bowl.

  • Add powdered sugar and mix.

  • Once mixed add your milk, vanilla, and salt then continue mixing.

  • Then start frosting!
