I’m gonna let you in on a little secret… 🤭 I almost always use a cake mix when making a cake. I mean who wouldn’t when these 6 simple tips make a box cake mix taste like a bakery-style cake?

1. Add milk instead of water. Milk adds a richer flavor to the cake. You can use any dairy-free milk. I used soy milk.
2. Melted butter instead of oil. It creates a better flavor and fluffier texture. Any dairy-free butter will work.
3 Add vanilla, even if the cake mix already has it. The mix has probably been on the shelf for a while, and the vanilla will loose flavor over time. Vanilla is essential in most cake flavors, even chocolate, because it enhances the flavor in the cake.
4. Use parchment paper and butter so the cake doesn’t stick.
5. Use an ice cream scoop to divide the batter evenly so the cakes cook the same.
6. Set a timer for a few minutes earlier than the directions so you don’t over bake it. Plus, every oven is a bit different, and yours might cook the cake a bit faster.
