Rachel Cruze is one of the world’s most celebrated financial experts, and for good reason. Her no-nonsense, everyman’s approach to finance has changed many lives. Rachel recognizes that very real financial impact of this pandemic, and offers incredible advice that YOU can implement today to save your money and your future. When chatting with Maria Menounos, Rachel offered these three incredible tips.

Start With Your Four Walls

A lot of people are struggling with work: either unemployment or a reduction of hours. Don’t panic. Rachel Cruze says that by starting with your four walls, your financial panic is much manageable. What are your four walls. Rachel says, “Your four walls are your needs. So it’s gonna be food shelter, utilities, and transportation so this is first and foremost, especially if you’ve lost your job and all of this or your hours have been reduced like if you were at the point then you’re a little bit in crisis mode those are the first four things.”
Look For Jobs That Have Increased Demand

Even though unemployment is reaching peak levels, there are jobs and industries that are actually increasing in demand as we face this unprecedented time. Rachel advises us to get creative, and get HUMBLE, as we consider our future career opportunities.

Rachel says, “Maybe you’re at a point where, like, you know, ‘I’m gonna take two part-time jobs that are available.’ Because while some industries have completely crashed in this whole crisis, there are some industries that are actually up and they’re actually hiring. It may not be the job you ever thought you would take, but in a moment like this, you just have to bring some kind of money and to pay the bills to keep food on the table, and keep the mortgage or the rent going.”
Call Your Credit Card Companies
Remember credit card companies are business too, and they’ll do whatever it takes to keep your business. When you’re dealing with your creditors or utilities, consider hopping on the phone to see what you can get! Rachel says, “A lot of industries are giving discounts right now, or they’re giving grace periods, which you may need to take advantage of. So everything from mortgages, to your utilities. So calling and saying, ‘hey here are some things that I need. I need my bill lowered.’ And ask and see if they will. But when you do that, make sure you know, ‘Okay are you taking a grace period for this time, or are they actually gonna lower it permanently for you just because you asked.’
